I am currently researching how to get it running on AMD cards. SEUS PTGI will not currently run on AMD graphics cards.
It does not take advantage of hardware acceleration on RTX cards. As far as I know, there aren't any issues currently. However, because I am doing a lot of tricks that most graphics programmers generally don't need to do, there might occasionally be some compatibility issues. It does not require an RTX graphics card and will work on any NVIDIA graphics card. Just know that I'm working as hard as I can!

When a public release is ready, it'll be free to download for anyone! Since it is highly experimental work, I cannot provide an ETA for these milestones. As it nears completion, it will drop down to Beta status, only requiring Iron tier access.
If you would like to try it out, for now it requires Gold tier access. There's some important information about it that you should know before you consider becoming a patron!įirst of all, if you're new to using Minecraft shaders, check this installation guide.Īs of now, SEUS PTGI is in an alpha state, which makes it an Experimental Development release. You're probably here for SEUS PTGI, which is my work-in-progress shader for Minecraft which features ray traced lighting and reflections. IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT MY RAY TRACING SHADER! However, I just kept found myself being drawn back to it! So, I decided to go with what felt right and return to working on Minecraft shaders and create this Patreon page in the hopes that it could be sustainable for me. I started working on SEUS in early 2012 and, while working on it, discovered a passion I never knew I had, graphics programming!Īfter a few years of working on SEUS, I moved on to other projects to better support myself financially. It obviously has a top layer, but since this part is not rendered on screen, BSL does not reflect it in the water, whereas SEUS PTGI does show a vague brown reflection of the entire large mushroom.Hi! My name is Cody, and I am the creator of Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders for Minecraft. The best example is the large mushroom in the top center of the images. The difference between screen-space and path traced reflection becomes clear when comparing them side by side. This means traditional packs only reflect light or blocks that it can actually see on screen. Traditional shaderpacks like BSL Shaders provide similar features, but do so by going off of screen-space objects. That is why it only works on RTX graphics cards, with limited support for some AMD graphics cards. As you may be able to understand, this takes a toll on your system. Path tracing also allows objects outside your direct view to be included when shading your worlds as realistically as possible. It does so, not by simply reflecting what is rendered on screen, but by taking all surrounding objects and their specifications such as their opacity and translucency into account. SEUS PTGI E12 uses a technique called path tracing, which is similar to ray tracing, to provide excellent realistic lighting and reflections. HRR is a version of this shaderpack which is rendered at half the resolution, giving you less visual quality, but much better performance. If you’re looking for a version of this shaderpack that may run a little better on your system, try SEUS PTGI HRR.
